Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head. (Luke 9:58)
A further ideal of Integritas is the restoration of Christian faith in public life.
This means that our commitment to God, as our Creator, must entail absolute respect for the dignity of every person, especially those who are most vulnerable, the service of the common good and care for all of creation as a gift from our Father and our common home. Western society is increasingly forgetting and denying its ethos in Christian faith. This makes the rediscovery of Christian ethos in education an imperative. For this ethos forms the basis of Western society and directs us towards prioritising care for the most vulnerable, respecting the common good of society and the care of creation for the good of all of humanity.
Fios – Christian Faith In Education
This centre hosts a research and advocacy group entitled Faith In Our Schools (FIOS) which seeks to reclaim Christian ethos for primary and secondary education. Its website can be found at www.faithinourschools.ie. This initiative seeks to realise a vision of Christian education that is, or that ought to be, embodied in a Church school, in both the Roman Catholic and Reformed traditions. It sees the primary purpose of education as religious and moral, not only as subjects themselves, but as the foundation of the entire educational process. For if education does not combine to convey some general view of life, it is not an education at all.
