Pope Francis, Ireland the World Meeting of Families 2018
The dates for the World Meeting of Families 2018 in Dublin, Ireland have been announced to be from 21 August 2018 to 26 August 2018. The first day of this event will allow for local diocesan launches in Ireland and facilitate a main objective of involving the entire Church throughout the country as the host of this international meeting. The website for the World Meeting of Families 2018 can be found at www.worldmeeting2018.ie.
At the conclusion of the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), he recites a prayer to the Holy Family. This prayer is for families to become “small domestic churches”, which is the theme addressed in chapter VI of the text which can be downloaded below and which is entitled Mission Territory – Pope Francis, Ireland and the World Meeting of Families 2018.
In this prayer, Pope Francis says: “Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.” This captures the essence of this text, which is to:
awaken us to how we have forgotten the sacredness and inviolability of the family in the Republic of Ireland and other Western societies (Part One of this text)
- begin to remember this through seeing its beauty in God’s plan (Part Two of this text).
